Holly Lake Ranch Hook and Ladder is a civic organization formed to support the Holly Lake Volunteer Fire Department. The members of Hook and Ladder hold a covered dish supper at 6:30 pm on the second Tuesday of each month at the fire station located just south of the main entrances to Holly Lake Ranch. In 2011, 945 residents and property owners of Holly Lake Ranch and residents and property owners who live off the ranch but in Wood County, who are serviced by HLVFD, joined Hook and Ladder by paying $20.00 per year in dues. All of this money, except for minor miscellaneous expenses, goes to the HLVFD.
Approximately 12% of the funds needed each year by the HLVFD are derived from the funds raised by Hook and Ladder. This helps offset the funds that would otherwise have to be provided through Wood County taxes. At this time, Wood County Taxes, assessed on all Wood County property owners, provide only about 13% of the HLVFD's funds. Without the support of Hook and Ladder, Wood County taxes would have to be raised on each and every property owner in Wood County.
Everyone is welcome. It is a time to socialize, make new acquaintances, receive information of the HLVFD during the previous month, and to support a meaningful and needed organization. Hook and Ladder is not just about a $20 donation each year! It is about year round support by each and every one of us. Please consider how you can best help Hook and Ladder and the Holly Lake Volunteer Fire Department and attend the meetings and volunteer!
If you have not received a membership application in the mail, please call the station at 903-769-4341 and leave your name and phone number and we'll contact you. Hook and Ladder is open to everyone!! HLVFD also urges every resident to install a reflective 911 address sign. This is extremely important for emergency services to be able to find your home at night. HLVFD will install a 911 address sign on your mailbox post for $20 ($25 with a post we provide). Call today to order your sign: 903-769-2659 or email jeanbill@etex.net
