Programs 2010
The Holly Book Club will be meeting on Friday, May 14, 2010, at 10:00 am at the Holly Tree Chapel.
We are excited to welcome John Foxjohn, the 2008 author of the year, who was born and raised in Nacogdoches, Texas, and currently lives in Lufkin. He quit high school and joined the Army at seventeen. Before becoming a multi-published and award winning author, he was a Viet Nam veteran, an Army Airborne Ranger, a policeman and homicide detective, a retired teacher, and a coach.
Two of his novels, Journey of the Spirit and Cold Tears, were nominated for the prestigious Preditors and Editors readers awards. In this worldwide readers’ poll, Journey of the Spirit placed second in the mainstream category. Even more impressive than this award, readers voted Cold Tears as the best mystery in the world.
John’s latest novel, Tattered Justice, has only been out since March of this year. Mark your calendar to attend this special Holly Book Club event as John introduces you to Kayla Nugent, a Houston criminal defense attorney, who defends her former best friend accused of murdering a best-selling romance author. Many of Kayla’s close friends try to convince her not to take this high profile case, but only one insists she not take it—the person trying to kill her.
On August 9, 2010, John is scheduled to speak at the East Texas Writers Guild in Tyler, Texas.
