Matchbox Ornament
Use acrylic craft paints and a small flat brush to
paint the sleeve of a small matchbox dark blue and the inside of the matchbox dark brown. Let dry. Transfer the star pattern below onto a piece of heavy paper and use a craft knife to cut out the design for stencil pattern. Or use a star punch to cut a stencil pattern from heavy paper instead. Discard the cutout portion of the pattern.
Place the stencil pattern on the painted sleeve of the matchbox. Dip a damp piece of household sponge into white paint. Dab sponge piece on paper
towel to remove excess paint. With an up-and-down motion, stencil the star onto the matchbox sleeve. Let dry.Use a craft knife to cut the following pieces from 10 matchsticks: a ½ in, long piece including
Match head for Jesus, a 1 in. long piece including match head for Mary and 1 ½ in long piece including head for Joseph. Dip only the match heads of these pieces into gold metallic paint. Let dry.
In the same way, cut the following pieces from the opposite ends of the remaining matchsticks: two 7/8 in long pieces for Mary, two 1 3/8 in long pieces for Joseph, one 3/8 in long piece for
cradle, and a ¾ in long piece and a 1 ¼ in long piece for the roof.
Glue the pieces to the inside of the matchbox (see below), placing matching short pieces on opposite sides of Mary and Joseph. Glue cradle at the base of the Mary and Joseph grouping and matchstick for Jesus to top of cradle. Glue the roof pieces to the inside top of the matchbox.
Use a 1/8 in paper punch to make two holes through the top of matchbox or use a craft knife to cut two small slits for hanging loop. Thread ends of a length of narrow ribbon through holes; knot ends together to form a hanging loop.
Slip matchbox sleeve over inside of matchbox to close the ornament.

Patchwork Throw
Cut 7" squares of any kind of fabric (fleece, fun fur, minkee, satin, etc.) whatever you want. You can make the throw as big or as little as you want. This one is 6 squares across and 8 down. Back it with, again, any kind of material you want. If you use any kind of woven material, then you will need to bind the edges, but if you make it with all man-made fibers (such as fleece, minkee, etc.) then you do not need to bind the edges.

Net Scrubbie
"N" crochet hook
8 yds net (will be stiffer) or 8 yds tulle (will be softer)
If you have a roller cutter and mat, the cutting will go much faster. An 8 yard strip should make a scrubbie without having to tie strips together.
Leave net folded and cut into 3 inch strips. Roll each
strip into a loose ball.
Chain very loosley 6 stitches and join into a circle. Single crochet 2 stitches into the outside stitch of each chain stitch. Continue around until there are 34 stitches.
Begin decreasing by making a single crochet into every other stitch, curling the edge over as you go. When there are three stitches left, tie off, and stuff the ends into the center.
You might want to practice by making a scrubbie using regular yarn. It will make a little wash cloth.
