Members I know it was a long hot summer but I for one am tired of this cold weather already. Good news is spring is right around the corner.

As most of you know by now, we have been cutting down a lot of dead trees or trees that are going to die. I know this not a favorite subject to discuss but I think once grass starts growing in you will enjoy the final outcome. Cutting these trees down will now give the grass a chance to grow. Sunlight as you know is very important. I know that there are some shade tolerate grasses, but they come at a steep price. With these trees being thinned out maybe you will benefit from a better lie now that grass will be there instead of mostly dirt. Plus, I have never heard anyone say "great I hit another tree".

On a serious note I hope when all trees that are dead or dying are down you will see improvements.

I would like to think Clayton and his wonderful crew for keeping us alive during this horrible drought we had this past summer. I played in a few tournaments this year and I saw a lot of courses that were totally burned up. So, thanks to the crew.

You will notice this year the fairways will be better, even though we had a drought, because we had less traffic due to the heat. Don’t get me wrong, it was a boring summer because we weren't as busy as normal but if you go by the 90 degree rule with your carts your fairways will stay in the best shape they can for common bermuda fairways. So with your help following the cart rule or even telling your buddies to follow the cart rule, everyone wins.

I would like to thank the membership for their continuing support. Most clubs across the county are down by 30% but we have kept it steady in the 450’s for the last 4 years. Again thank y’all. I hope that means we are giving you the best product for the price. Also, tournament play was up and again what a great sign during these times and that is a compliment to your MGA and LGA boards for keeping interest up.

I want to thank the membership for allowing us to serve you yet another year. I am truly blessed to be the Head Golf Professional at such a wonderful place (THANKS).
