MINUTES OF THE GREENS COMMITTEE MEETING

Chairperson, Janie Johnson, called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m.

Committee Members Present

Lee Bayley, Vice Chairperson/Member at Large, Jim Armstrong, MGA President, Sharon Thorson, 18 Hole WGA President,  Janie Johnson, 9 Hole WGA President, Richard Trice, Member at Large, Clayton Wood, Golf Course Superintendent, Carl Worley, Club Golf Professional, John Fruendt, Secretary, Member at Large, Jeannette Sterner, B Board Liaison and Rob James, HLRA General Manager

WGA Reports

9 – hole – Janie Reported that they have been having good turn outs by all members. Oct 24th is the date for their championship tournament.

18 – hole – Sharon reported that they were defeated by the ladies at Hideaway.  Their championship tournament was completed in spite of rain.  Fall Fling is set for Oct 24th.  Election committee is working for next year officer nominations.  Our course looks great!

MGA Report

Jim Armstrong reported that the MGA had provided six additional sand buckets for the range.  The rough concrete cart path south of the pro shop has been replaced.

Course Superintendents Report

Clayton reported that all the new tees have been planted with grass.  They will not be playable till May 2013.  Pre-emergent fertilizer has been applied to all greens; winter fertilizer has been applied to all fairways.  The planned improvements to the front will start next week.  A bull dozier will arrive on Nov 11th.  Clayton reported that all greens are in good shape. Jeannette asked for an update on the sprinkler system study; the irrigation engineer has submitted  a proposal suggesting that all the main lines be replaced with larger pipe the 1st year followed by replacing the secondary lines the following year.

Club Professional Report

Carl Worley – Carl reported that there is a tournament scheduled this coming week end.  Nov 4th we will change to winter tee times, which are; for morning starts, call in by 8:15AM for 8:30AM card distribution on the putting green, for afternoon starts, call in by 12:45PM for 1PM card distribution.  The night tournament has been cancelled due to low sign up count.  Jeannette reported that someone questioned the yardage of the course.  Carl will verify and follow-up.

General Manager Report

Next month Rob will present an overview of next year’s budget.  Rob requested that if the at large committee members chose not to serve on the board next year, they are requested that they find a replacement.

B Board Report

New Business

Lee reported that a quite a bit has been accomplished this year and that he requested that each department manager summarize this past years department accomplishment to help give the next board an understanding of what went on during 2012.

Jeannette requested that at the end of tournaments on Sundays, that golf carts not block the car turn around for the 19th hole guests; maybe this could be addressed to tournament participants prior to the Sunday tournament start.

Janie announced that our next meeting will be Friday Nov 9th, at 9:30 AM in the HLR Board room.
